Zwager: “As a kid I've always been fascinated by battle paintings in museums, but could never have imagined to be able to paint one myself, so I decided to test my skill and patience with a fragment of the ‘Panorama 1453’ painting.
All the neighbours were extremely supportive. I could paint for 7 days straight, totaling around 48 hours. I say it with basically every mural, but this was the most ambitious and absurd project of mine to date”.

The Panorama 1453 Historical Museum, located in Istanbul, is an important historical site that opened its doors to the public on 31 January 2009. The museum is dedicated to showcasing the conquest of the city of Constantinople, the capital of the Byzantine Empire, by the Ottoman sultan Mehmed the Conqueror on 29 May 1453. The Panorama 1453 Historical Museum is located near the site where the Ottomans breached the walls during the conquest of Constantinople.

Fun fact: There seems to be an easter egg in the painting, hiding very well :)

Leuk weetje: er schijnt een easter egg in het schilderij te zitten, dat heel goed verstopt is :)
