El gallo de La Bañeza

The initial idea behind this work was to create a link between the festival and its immediate surroundings. The rooster has a very strong symbolic meaning as an emblem of the rural environment. Its crowing awakens the village, marking the beginning of a new day, representing renewal and the unique energy of the morning. This bird also links to urban culture, specifically to the battle rap (in spanish "Batalla de gallos") present not only in hip hop culture but also in this festival's activities.

In turn, the geometry of the wall welcomes and enhances the animal's posture, allowing the image to grow upwards. The intervention culminates with a visual illusion on the adjoining wall, an unplanned action that was painted on the last day so that, from a specific point of view on the street, it appears as if the rooster has jumped over the wall and is walking among the neighbors of La Bañeza, extending the work beyond the wall.
