Bad Guy

50 years after the discovery of the bronzes, I imagined those two "terrible boys" and beautiful to die for, emerging from the sea and from the seventies atmosphere so dear to me.
 
 The Riace bronzes are the representation of two hoplites, two warriors of the heavy infantry of ancient Greece. However, they are not ordinary soldiers, because the representation of nudity in ancient Greece has always been reserved for divinities, which is why I wanted to arm them with lightning bolts and palm trees. Since ancient times, lightning was recognized as a divine sign, so much so that a sacred building was built where lightning struck because it had been "touched" by the Gods. The palm, due to its ability to soar towards the sky, was considered an element of connection between the earth and the divine.

A 50 anni dal rinvenimento dei bronzi ho immaginato quei due “ragazzi terribili” e belli da morire, emergere dal mare e dalle atmosfere seventy a me tanto care.
 
 I bronzi di Riace sono la rappresentazione di due opliti, due guerrieri della fanteria pesante dell’antica Grecia. Non sono soldati qualsiasi però, perché la rappresentazione della nudità nell’antica Grecia è sempre stata riservata alle divinità, per questo li ho voluti armare di fulmini e palme. Il fulmine fin dall'antichità veniva riconosciuto come un segno divino tant'è che dove cadeva un fulmine si costruiva un edificio sacro perché era stato "toccato" dagli Dei. La palma, per la sua capacità di slanciarsi verso il cielo, era considerata un elemento di collegamento tra il terreno e il divino.
