<div>Un paesaggio sotto marino fantastico, una Atlantide in salsa sicula reinventata attraverso il mio linguaggio artistico personale. Il mare, linfa vitale di questo territorio, da dove non si vede. Troviamo un banco di pesci azzurri, (sardine tipiche del territorio), figure umane, (residenti e turisti), coralli e piante marine di diverse forme e colori e persino un dirigibile. Ogni cosa sembra convivere in maniera pacifica e serena con le altre.<br>Le cromie nei toni pastello, sono tenui e calibrate con il contesto del quartiere di case popolari dello Spinito. Alcuni elementi sembrano passare lentamente da una parete all’altra creando una composizione dinamica. Una sola sardina che fa da “chaise long” ad un giovane vestito con abiti contemporanei, viaggia nella direzione opposta. Essa rappresenta l’arte e la capacità che ha di tracciare nuovi territori linguistici, ma allude anche ad una amministrazione lungimirante che prima di molte altre, si è impegnata concretamente nell’affrontare temi legati all’eco sostenibilità ambientale.&nbsp;<br>-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------<br>A fantastic underwater landscape, an Atlantis in Sicilian sauce reinvented through my personal artistic language. The sea, the lifeblood of this territory, from where it cannot be seen. We find a shoal of blue fish (typical sardines of the area), human figures (residents and tourists), corals and marine plants of different shapes and colors and even an airship. Everything seems to coexist peacefully and serenely with the others. The colors in the pastel tones are soft and calibrated with the context of the Spinito social housing district. Some elements seem to move slowly from one wall to another creating a dynamic composition. A single sardine that acts as a "chaise long" for a young man dressed in contemporary clothes travels in the opposite direction. It represents the art and the ability it has to trace new linguistic territories, but it also alludes to a far sighted administration which, before many others, was concretely committed to addressing issues related to eco-environmental sustainability.</div>

<div>Project called "Spazi capaci / comunita capaci", curated by Alessandro de Lisi and produced by the Giovanni Falcone foundation and the Ministry of Education on the occasion of the anniversaries of the assassinations of Giovanni Falcone and Paolo Borsellino. Falcone and Borsellino were Sicilian judges and anti-mafia campaigners.<br>This project (public art against the mafia in Palermo), will last 3 years till 2023 and will present different art works.<br>Both murals of Paolo Borsellino and Giovanni Falcone represent the Portal of the Giants (La Porta dei Giganti).<br><br></div>

Paolo

<div>In rethinking a piece of this neighborhood,<br>I painted a fantastic river landscape where a Kingfisher stands in the center. Then herons, eels, frogs, water lilies and other examples of the flora and fauna that form the ecosystem of the Oreto river which is located a few meters below the place where the murals stand. The river, even if denied to the use of citizens, represents a very important natural resource for Palermo, the intent of this work is to at least create a visual link between it and the nearest neighborhood.<br>The intervention, which covers an area of ​​500 square meters, incorporating a bus stop and an old Enel tower, plays with design, but also wants to be, in flashes, ornamental and nostalgically retro. The original windows of the main building, shielded by square-shaped red metal filters, become a graphic motif of continuity even in the low walls. The pictorial story takes the form of a path that transforms itself in relation to the walls it encounters. Giovanni

<div>Five urban paintings that from 25 July to 1 August 2018 were painted simultaneously in five large walls of the Albergheria. The project, born from an idea of Igor Scalisi Palminteri and Andrea Buglisi, involved Alessandro Bazan, Andrea Buglisi, Angelo Crazyone, Fulvio Di Piazza and Igor Scalisi Palminteri who faced as many large walls located in the historic district of Ballarò / Albergheria. The monumental works have been conceived and designed to dialogue, each in its own way, with the urban fabric and the resident community of the neighborhood. Objective of the project: urban redevelopment through art, which is why squares were chosen that show signs of decay despite their great aesthetic and historical / cultural potential.</div>

<div>Artiste actif depuis 2000, il se consacre principalement à la peinture, avec une attention particulière aux contaminations. Il décrit sa recherche comme suit : "Une sorte de piège visuel. J'ai tendance à attirer l'observateur avec des images séduisantes du point de vue chromatique et compositionnel, qui font un clin d'œil au design et à la publicité. À un niveau de lecture plus profonde, on distingue cependant quelque chose d'inquiétant qui, à travers le vecteur privilégié de l'ironie, véhicule un message critique envers la société avec ses conventions et névroses collectives."<br><br>Le mur proposé à Andrea se trouve dans le quartier de Messines et voici sa note d’intention : <strong><em>L'opéra s'inspire de la tradition des " Gayoles", réinterprétée à travers mon langage artistique personnel. J'ai composé cette œuvre de manière à créer l'illusion que le bâtiment architectural devient une sorte de cage à oiseaux, de forme similaire à celles qui étaient vendues sur le marché pour soutenir les familles pendant les périodes de chômage. Cependant, ma cage est différente ; les barreaux sont larges et espacés, et les oiseaux à l'intérieur sont libres. En effet, ils semblent jouer joyeusement dans leur monde, qui est un mélange de nature, de tradition et de modernité.</em></strong><br>&nbsp; &nbsp;</div>

La Gayole

<div>Created by Andrea Buglisi alias BUG_.TV in 2019 and is a part of the MURI di MARE Project - New mural in Terrasini.<br>It represents a carpenter's vis that balances an egg.<br>One more turn of the screw and the egg would shatter, one less and it would fall.</div><div>It is a reflection on theissues of precariousbalance, resistance and contrast, but it also has a political meaning as the term "crackdown" generally refers to the increased punishment of a specific crime. Its use has become common in every human sphere when it comes to any hardening of a norm or a way of behaving. Its etymology derives from a type of death sentence practiced in Spain: the garrote. In this type of condemnation, infact, at every turn of the screw an iron circle tightened to the throat of the condemned man to the point of causing death by strangulation.<br><br></div>

<p>The Pina Bausch dance piece PALERMO PALERMO from 1989, created on a trip to Palermo and in co-production with the Teatro Biondo Stabile, Palermo, and Andres Neumann International, meets Andrea Buglisi, who cultivates his very own, collage-like pop art style. Andrea Buglisi was inspired by a photo og the Berlin photographer Oliver Look. He was particularly fond of the former Pina Busch dancer Ophelia Young and the still Pina Busch dancer Tsai-Chin Yu. It is the power of their movement that is reminiscent of the pride of Sicilian women.</p><p>The Pina Bausch Gallery WUPPERTAL TANZT is a tribute to the dance choreographer Pina Bausch in the public space of the city of Wuppertal. WUPPERTAL TANZT are 10 international murals for 10 local districts - 10 dance stories, 10 countries, 10 artists, 10 views and 10 perspectives. This is a piece of internationality for every district of Wuppertal, a presentation of different cultures, captured in movement and transformed into art. WUPPERTAL TANZT explores Pina Bausch's 15 international dance co-productions and transforms them from dance art into wall art.</p><p>The street artists come from the cities of the dance co-productions: The cultural colouring of the dance art is to be reflected in the cultural colouring of the wall art.</p>

Il Dono

<div>&nbsp;</div><div>L’opera pittorica che ho pensato per il Comune di Corleone, è un omaggio alla memoria Francesca Laura Morvillo, vittima nel 23 maggio del 1992 dell’attentato mafioso chiamato “la strage di Capaci” in cui morirono il Magistrato antimafia Giovanni Falcone, suo marito, e gli agenti della scorta Vito Schifani, Rocco Dicillo e Antonio Montinaro. Ho rappresentato il dolce volto del magistrato sulla facciata della scuola elementare che porta il suo nome che simbolicamente, volge il suo sguardo verso la piazza intitolata ai Giudici Falcone e Borsellino come se fosse una guida e una consigliera vigile e attenta. Mi sono ispirato alle vecchie foto che si trovano negli album fotografici di famiglia, questo conferisce all’immagine un senso di intimità e familiarità. Ho inerito un filtro verde sugli occhi della donna alludendo al vetro blindato dal quale ha osservato il mondo per lunga parte della sua vita. Questo crea un rimando cromatico e simbolico con “La porta dei Giganti” opera che ho realizzato a Palermo nei pressi dell’Aula bunker del carcere Ucciardone nel 2021. Mi auguro che il suo volto possa diventare un'immagine iconica, punto di riferimento di legalità e umanità per tutta Corleone e che possa contribuire a riscattare questa comunità dal brutale stereotipo che si porta dietro da ormai troppo anni.<br>&nbsp;<br>The artwork that I designed for the Municipality of Corleone is a tribute to the memory of Francesca Laura Morvillo, victim on May 23, 1992 of the mafia attack called "the massacre of Capaci" in which the anti-mafia magistrate Giovanni Falcone died, her husband, and the agents of the escort Vito Schifani, Rocco Dicillo and Antonio Montinaro. I represented the sweet face of the magistrate on the facade of the elementary school that bears his name which symbolically turns his gaze towards the square named after Judges Falcone and Borsellino as if he were a vigilant and attentive guide and adviser. I was inspired by old photos found in family photo albums, this gives the image a sense of intimacy and familiarity. I applied a green filter to the woman's eyes alluding to the armored glass from which she observed the world for a long part of her life. This creates a chromatic and symbolic reference with "La porta dei Giganti" a work I created in Palermo near the bunker hall of the Ucciardone prison in 2021. I hope that his face can become an iconic image, a reference point of legality and humanity for all of Corleone and which can help redeem this community from the brutal stereotype it has been carrying for too many years now.</div><div><br><br></div>

È considerato l’eroe nazionale albanese.<br><br>Il primo piano ne esalta lo sguardo fiero e riflessivo ed emerge plasticamente dalle antiche pietre del quartiere Sheshi che appare come il suo contesto storico naturale.</p><p>______________________________________________________________________________________________________________</p><p>Giorgio Castriota, known as Skanderbeg, was the Albanian leader, patriot and prince who led his countrymen to rebel against the occupation of Albania by the Ottoman Turks. He is considered the Albanian national hero.</p><p>The foreground highlights his proud and thoughtful gaze and emerges plastically from the ancient stones of the Sheshi district that appears as its natural historical context.</p>

SKANDERBEG

<div>The giant mural, measuring 350 square meters, is the work of the street art artist, Andrea Buglisi and a tribute to the late Ennio Morricone. "The work is not due to the artist who made it - Buglisi declares - but to a concert of energies that must converge on the same project. Personally, I'm a Morricone fan, so I made it with great enthusiasm. As for the gesture of silence represented in the mural, it is not an incitement to silence but to take a break, and to listen not only to music, but above all to pay attention to others ".</div>

The sound of silence

<div>Mural commissioned by the Rotary Club of Nicosia and the municipality of Nicosia.<br>The mural reflects a symbol of life that resists winter. The robin brings hope, optimism and good wishes for the new year. And is also a sign of rebirth and renewal. This small but symbolic bird also represents the generosity of the citizens of Nicosia and the Rotary club which in these difficult times of the pandemic, have shown to take good care of the weakest ones in society.&nbsp;<br>A Christian legend tells that these birds were originally gray, untill one of them tried to free Jesus, crucified with the crown of thorns. And became red by staining himself with his blood.<br>As a sign of gratitude, Jesus decided to leave the red colour to the little bird, so that everyone could recognize his goodness and generosity.&nbsp;<br>The white cross that the bird carries on the red chest refers to this legend. But also takes the shape and colours of the municipial coat of arms of Nicosia.&nbsp;<br>The work dialogues in form and content with "Fides", another mural by the artist in Palermo; in the fantastic and problematic area of Ballarò. A small hummingbird is immortalized in the utopian act of moving a large bolder.</div>

“Vale, To be a rock!”

<div>50 years after the discovery of the bronzes, I imagined those two "terrible boys" and beautiful to die for, emerging from the sea and from the seventies atmosphere so dear to me.<br>&nbsp;<br>&nbsp;The Riace bronzes are the representation of two hoplites, two warriors of the heavy infantry of ancient Greece. However, they are not ordinary soldiers, because the representation of nudity in ancient Greece has always been reserved for divinities, which is why I wanted to arm them with lightning bolts and palm trees. Since ancient times, lightning was recognized as a divine sign, so much so that a sacred building was built where lightning struck because it had been "touched" by the Gods. Il fulmine fin dall'antichità veniva riconosciuto come un segno divino tant'è che dove cadeva un fulmine si costruiva un edificio sacro perché era stato "toccato" dagli Dei. <div>The poet Ignazio Buttitta and the painter Renato Guttuso. Two of the most representative figures of Bagheria culture are depicted together in this public work designed jointly by the artists Andrea Buglisi and Igor Scalisi Palminteri.
Ignazio Buttitta with his gaze full of sunlight and Mediterranean projects the canvas where the master and friend Renato Guttuso will create his image inspired by the words of the poet and the colors of his land.
Two minds illuminate the past that redesign the future of Bagheria.

A dialogue of reciprocal stimuli and chromatic references makes this work a coherent whole despite the respective stylistic specificities of the two authors who conceived it.


"The poet in the square" is the title of a collection of poems by Ignazio Buttitta published by Feltrinelli in 1974 and alludes to the fact that with this mural the poet once again finds himself enthroned in a square in his town and does so together with another a visual poet of the caliber of Renato Guttuso, in fact in this regard Buttitta said: "The painter is always a poet. Questa volta ho voluto fissare il fuoco sul momento preciso in cui, nei giovani della mia generazione, camicie di flanella in stile “grunge” e scarpe da ginnastica, nasce la consapevolezza che qualcosa doveva cambiare. Era necessario azzerare tutto, staccare i piedi da terra, trasformare il dolore in energia propulsiva per prendere le distanze dalle logiche mafiose. Era ora di lasciarsi trasportare, spinti dal “vento nuovo”, verso mete altre del pensiero. Dedicato a tutte le vittime di mafia. Per realizzare questo murale sono state usate vernici fotocatalitiche antismog, capaci di assorbire il 65% di Co2.&nbsp;<br><br></div><div>A disused electrical substation in Casteldaccia is for me an opportunity to return, exactly one year after the completion of the "Porta dei Giganti", to 1992, year X in everyone's conscience. <div>A woman floats inches from a beautiful and menacing prickly pear cactus plant.
The graceful silhouette is that of the actress Sharon Tate, barbarously killed in the summer of 1969, in her villa on Cielo Drive in Los Angeles.
Sharon was eight months pregnant.
A terrible and "thorny" theme that of violence against women, I chose to treat it through contrasts, a key and recurring motif of my visual story. Leap and fall, beauty and cruelty, local and universal.
Dedicated to Giovanna Bonsignore and all the "queens" victims of feminicide.</div>
