"It was over 100 degrees out before the sun even came up. @graysoncole and I had this massive mural project to finish downtown before the opening of @trulieveaz_ and we didn’t have time to wait for it to be “cooler” outside.
I’ll never forget this project for a couple reasons…
1: You have to be focused.
We had to get the job done. It was 115 plus most days and the conditions definitely sucked. But we went at it focused and prepared and got it done. Your attitude is 90% of the problem. I remember painting and seeing all the homeless people just hanging out. Laughing ha it really make me think twice about how conditioned I am to my comforts.
2. Train Hard
That whole past year I was training on my gravel and mountain bikes for different races. All through the summer I was riding sweating my face off. And here I was painting in the heat of the summer Dailed in only because the prior training of fitness made it capable for me to be in these conditions and get the job done with not a ton of time. And the same goes for @graysoncole if he wasn’t prepared non of it would have come together. Being prepared in life is about you yes but it’s also about others because if you’re not ready for what life might toss at you then you might end up jacking up someone else’s future because you didn’t take the time to ready yourself for the tasks at hand. Always be ready. You never know when you’re gonna have to tap into something unexpected.
3. Capacity
We all want more capacity.
I didn’t really want to do this mural. The conditions sucked. But I knew that it wasn’t a good enough reason to say no to it. If you want to expand your capacity in life YOU have to expand it yourself by committing to things way outside your comfort zone that will enable you to expand your mind and give you a new perspective on what you’re capable of. You’re the only one who can expand your capacity. A good way to know if something will expand your capacity is if it scares you, if it seems really hard or if it is way outside of what you would normally say yes too. Things that seems impossible or illogical will most likely expand your capacity.
