SISU * PERSIST *

Created for Mimmit Peinttaa Festival

The Finnish word sisu has no exact translation — but it has a mirror. In Brazil, we call it persistence.

To keep going despite the lack of structure. To insist on your own voice, even when the world demands silence.

This mural is a bridge between those quiet forces. A female profile that envisions a possible tomorrow.

It’s freedom that doesn’t ask permission — it’s a woman who keeps going.

This mural is a gesture of encounter. Between South and North. A message of empowerment.

Between those who almost gave up — and those who can’t stop anymore.

The 10th edition of the annual Mimmit peinttaa street art female event took place in summer 2025 in Hiedanranta, marking a decade of the initiative. Organized by Mimmit ry, a Helsinki-based urban culture association, the event featured both Finnish and international women artists. Previously held mainly in Helsinki, with editions in Kotka and Savonlinna, this anniversary edition was supported by Hiedanrannan Kehitys Oy, which is developing the former factory area into a new district. The event brought vibrant murals to the area, contributing to the Hiedanranta art program, which aims to create artworks that enhance the neighborhood’s identity and promote public engagement.
