Muurschildering uit juli 2018 voor Street Art Festival.

De kunstenaar, schilder en illustrator Sokar uno die in 1987 werd geboren in Gotha, Thüringen, groeide daar ook op. Hij tekende al veel in zijn vroege kindertijd en werd geïnspireerd door beroemde striphelden uit die tijd. Vooral de portrettekeningen van zijn moeder waren essentieel voor zijn artistieke drive.

Rond 1998 kwam Sokar uno voor het eerst in contact met de lokale graffitiscène, die hem toegang verschafte tot nieuwe artistieke expressies. De nieuwe verkende mogelijkheden versterkten zijn drang om een eigen stijl te ontwikkelen. Naast een opleiding tot ingenieurstekenaar, een baccalaureaatsdiploma in ontwerpen en hulp bij de restauratie van schilderijen, is al het werk van Sokar uno vandaag de dag uitsluitend gebaseerd op zijn autodidactische werkmethoden. Met behulp van spuitbussen, verfrollers of kwasten zijn zijn kunstwerken te vinden in galeries, op canvas, op muren en objecten in de stedelijke ruimte. De basis van zijn kunst zijn illustratief-realistische voorstellingen van mensen en hun lichaamsvormen die hij in fragmenten breekt en weer samenbrengt in bustes.

The artist, painter and illustrator Sokar uno was born in Gotha, Thuringia, in 1987, where he also grew up. He drew a lot in his early childhood and was inspired by famous comic book heroes of the time. The portrait drawings of his mother were particularly important for his artistic drive.

Around 1998, Sokar uno first came into contact with the local graffiti scene, which gave him access to new artistic expressions. The new possibilities he explored reinforced his urge to develop his own style. In addition to training as an engineering draughtsman, a bachelor's degree in design and assisting in the restoration of paintings, all of Sokar uno's work today is based exclusively on his self-taught working methods. Using spray cans, paint rollers or brushes, his artworks can be found in galleries, on canvas, on walls and objects in urban spaces. The basis of his art is illustrative-realistic representations of people and their body shapes, which he breaks down into fragments and reassembles into busts.
