SMOK (artiestennaam van Bart Boudewijns) vermengde oud en nieuw in zijn concept en verwerkte er typische Tiense suiker(klontjes) in. De kunstenaar liet zich inspireren door het schilderij ‘Bietenoogst’ van Emile Claus. Dat kunstwerk toont de traditionele bietenoogst op een manier waarop ook het (klassieke) boerenleven wordt weergegeven.

SMOK herwerkte het tot een hedendaagse versie in een mooie compositie. Hij zette het kunstwerk om in grove pixels, in ‘vierkante suikerklontjes’, om het geheel te doen passen op de lange muur.

SMOK (the stage name of Bart Boudewijns) blended the old and the new in his concept and incorporated typical Tiense sugar (cubes) into it. The artist drew inspiration from the painting ‘Beet Harvest’ by Emile Claus. That artwork depicts the traditional beet harvest in a way that also captures (traditional) rural life.

SMOK reworked it into a contemporary version in a beautiful composition. He transformed the artwork into coarse pixels, in the form of ‘square sugar lumps’, to make the whole piece fit onto the long wall.
