Bridging Moments

The mural tells the story of the changing station environment, built and social, and interprets elements of historical drawings and imagery through a figurative artistic approach. The concept centres on the growth of community connection within this area, and highlights that accessible public transport helps to strengthen these connections. Using geometric shapes, figures and patterns, the mural highlights new and heritage architectural elements of the station. The footbridge, an arch, the stairs, the platform verandah and benches - these can all be seen as points of connection.

St Peters Station not only serves as a place of transportation, but also as a meeting place and a place for reflection and interaction. In the wall mural, we see figures moving across the station platform, referenced in the background in illustrations of the platform verandah and the platform stairs. Heritage architectural details are embedded into the motifs of the figure forms and clothing patterns.

A St Peters Station Heritage Interpretation mural sign was previously displayed adjacent to this artwork, but has since been removed. It details similar information from the Transport Arts plaque, with graphic design specifics.
