Secret Garden

Spanning about 45 metres on the eastern border of Civic Park are a collection of native birds and flowers adorning Harmony Garden and walking path.

I wanted to create a dream like feel to the space and paint something that fits well with the surrounding environment, the natural setting and the wetlands. Given the park is called Harmony Garden, I wanted the public to feel a sense of calm and peace and a place where they could stop and reflect for a bit.

Featured in the artwork is a Red Wattle, Painted Lady Butterfly, Fairy Wren and King Parrot. I chose these birds as they are native and the contrasting colours of fauna complimented the juxtapoz of the flora. The flowers were chosen to reflect the cultural makeup of the people of the area.
