Books & Botanicals

The Green Reading Room at Rockdale Library has been transformed into a lush, immersive sanctuary through the mural Books & Botanicals.

Inspired by the quiet joy of reading and the soothing presence of greenery, the mural features stylised botanical forms including Kangaroo Vine, Native Fuchsia, Broad Leaf Drumstick, and Soft Water Fern - each selected for its distinctive shape and connection to the garden.

Playful native bees also make an appearance, buzzing gently through the scene and echoing the real-life hive nestled among the surrounding plants. The artwork invites visitors to pause, breathe, and reconnect with nature, even in the heart of an urban library.

"I wanted the mural to feel like a garden you could walk into with a book in hand - a place where stories and plants grow together" - Sha'an d'Anthes.

This enveloping and immersive artwork can be found in the Level 2 balcony of Rockdale City Library.
