Mujer de Mantilla

Sevillian artist Kato wanted to bring to Southend-on-Sea one of the most iconic images of his homeland: women dressed in mantillas. This lace veil, steeped in symbolism, represents mourning, faith, and devotion during Holy Week in Seville. Through black and white and an intense interplay of light and shadow, Kato sought to convey both the strength and delicacy of this tradition, bringing a fragment of Andalusian culture to an international urban art event.


El artista sevillano Kato ha querido traer hasta Southend on Sea una de las imágenes más icónicas de su tierra: las mujeres vestidas de mantilla. Este velo de encaje, cargado de simbolismo, representa el luto, la fe y la devoción en la Semana Santa de Sevilla. A través del blanco y negro y un intenso juego de luces y sombras, Kato buscó transmitir tanto la fuerza como la delicadeza de esta tradición, llevando un fragmento de la cultura andaluza a un evento internacional de arte urbano.
