Charles Lindbergh with the Albo family

Coincidences of life, Charles Lindbergh, on a trip from Switzerland to Lisbon in 1933, piloting his plane Tingmissartoq, had to make a forced landing in Santoña.
The sailor Zoilo Fernández was the first to help them, took them to the town where they were entertained at the City Hall and stayed at the home of the Albo family. A family of Italian origin who settled here to dedicate themselves to the business of canning anchovies.
What the people of Santoña do not forgive to Charles Lindbergh is that years later, in an interview in a famous newspaper of the time, he said that he "had never been to Spain".   -----------------------------------------------------------------------   Casualidades de la vida, Charles Lindbergh, en un viaje desde Suiza a Lisboa en 1933, pilotando su avión Tingmissartoq, tuvo que hacer un aterrizaje forzoso en Santoña.
El marinero Zoilo Fernández fue el primero que les ayudó, los llevó al pueblo donde fueron agasajados en el Ayuntamiento y se alojaron en la casa de la familia Albo, familia de origen italiano que se instaló aquí para dedicarse al negocio de la conserva de las anchoas. 
Lo que no le perdonan los de Santoña a Charles Lindbergh es que años más tarde, en una entrevista en un afamado periódico de la época, dijera que "nunca había estado en España".
