The silence of Birds

“The silence of the birds” is a 100m2 mural, produced at the end of October 2019 in Rilleux-la-pape by the french artist KALOUF. This artistic project, selected through a call for projects from the municipality, focuses on a problematic of our territories: the disappearance of birds in the agricultural environment.
The human impact (globalization, mass consumption, urbanization ...) contributes to accentuate the environmental damage that we are experiencing today.
In 25 years, the population of birds in agricultural areas has reduced considerably. This is very worrying given that a third of our friendly passerines have disappeared due to intensive agriculture and the massive use of pesticides, which destroy the insects and plants on which these birds feed. An alarming reality that tells us that the overall quality of the agricultural ecosystem has deteriorated.
