Mural for the youth center "Kaņieris"

During the process of developing the painting, several creative workshops were held in collaboration with the children and young people of the youth center “Kaņieris” to create ideas for the mural together with the students of the Latvian Academy of Fine Arts. During the workshops, the participants had the opportunity to both get acquainted with the concept and examples of public art and create their own drawings and ideas.

The ideas for the workshops were worked on by the students of the Latvian Academy of Fine Arts: Ieva Viese, Dena Doloresa Sircova, Kristers Krūms, Katrīna Biksone, and Laura Aizporiete. Laura Aizporiete’s sketch “Te aug Kaņieris” (Here Grows Kaņieris) was chosen for the realization of the mural, which was brought to life by the student team. The project was led by teachers Kristaps Ancāns and Armands Zelčs; technical support was provided by Artūrs Arnis.
