Mural of Brasa bridge

The murals on the supporting walls of the bridge on the Brasa and Čiekurkalns sides will highlight the cultural values of the neighborhood, the activities of the residents, and local legends. The wall on the Brasa side is on average two meters high and 160 meters long, or 320 square meters, while the wall on the Čiekurkalns side is planned to be painted with a mural on an area of 150 square meters. Opposite the children's playground, a painting is being created that, through illustrations, plays out various characteristic and significant events of the neighborhood in a way that is familiar to children. A separate part of the mural illustrates Klāvs Elsbergs' poem "Krasta runa," a reference to the historical hippodrome and horse stables.

The mural is interwoven with the theme of the Hospital Street festival, everyday scenes of the Great Cemetery—people walking, roller skaters, animals with their owners, and, of course, runners, which are characteristic of the beautiful, green, and historical place of Brasa. Respecting the past but also being aware of the present, two young poets who have lived or currently live in the Brasa area— Ivars Šteinbergs and Marija Luīze Meļķe—were approached, inviting them to create associative poems for the mural. These will be incorporated into the mural, adding illustrative references to the Great Cemetery Sphinx, as well as creating visualizations of sweets that recall the smell of Miera Street, which used to reign in this area.
