After the Cambodia Urban Art Festival, we went to Kep. This city was once the most popular and prestigious coastal city in Cambodia, but had difficult days during the Khmer Rouge period. Many French colonial houses and villas in Kep have been destroyed. The little that remains is mostly abandoned, leaving empty and dilapidated walls. The ideal playground to give color and life in this place still frequented by fishermen and merchants of the country. I wan20ted to represent an Apsara, a Cambodian celestial nymph. Apsaras are associated with rivers and the sea. According to legend, apsaras emerge from the waters to seduce men. Those who reject them go mad, while those who accept them as mistress or wife gain immortality.
