This artwork was created by De Strakke Hand at the initiative of local residents. As always, De Strakke Hand first consulted both the initiators and the neighbourhood residents. An important starting point for the design was the annual community festival held in the two streets.

The mural depicts the yearly tug-of-war competition during the neighbourhood festival. Festive garlands and lights have also been incorporated into the design. In addition, branches and leaves are featured in the painting as a clear reference to the names of both streets. Takstraat = Branchstreet and Bladstraat = Leafstreet.

At the bottom of the mural stands: these are branch and leaf — holding each other tightly — whoever was here remains.

 De Strakke Hand spent two weeks creating the artwork. Highly durable paint was used for the mural, allowing local residents to enjoy it together for at least another twenty years during the annual neighbourhood festival.

Dit kunstwerk is gerealiseerd door De Strakke Hand op initiatief van de buurtbewoners. Zoals altijd ging De Strakke Hand vooraf in gesprek met zowel de initiatiefnemers als de bewoners. Een belangrijk uitgangspunt voor het ontwerp was het gezamenlijke buurtfeest dat jaarlijks in beide straten wordt georganiseerd.

Op de muurschildering is de jaarlijkse touwtrekwedstrijd tijdens het buurtfeest afgebeeld. Ook de feestelijke slingers en verlichting hebben een plek gekregen in het ontwerp. Daarnaast zijn takken en bladeren in de schildering verwerkt als duidelijke verwijzing naar de namen van beide straten.

De Strakke Hand werkte twee weken aan de realisatie van het kunstwerk. Voor de muurschildering is gebruikgemaakt van zeer duurzame verf, waardoor buurtbewoners er naar verwachting nog zeker twintig jaar samen van kunnen genieten tijdens het jaarlijkse buurtfeest.
