ELEVATED GAZE

This mural, painted high on a building in Montreal, portrays my eldest daughter. I placed her in an elevated position—not only physically, but symbolically—as a figure of strength, introspection, and future. Her gaze, powerful and direct, is meant to meet that of the passerby, cutting through the urban space to spark pause and reflection.

The mural connects the intimate with the public. Depicting my daughter is not just a personal act, but a statement of hope and continuity. She stands for the new generations who look upon the world with determination—from above, yet grounded in both personal and collective histories.

Montreal, with its diversity, marked seasons, and ever-evolving landscape, offers the perfect backdrop for this image. It is a city that, like my daughter's gaze, is never still. With this mural, I invite viewers to feel seen—not judged, but called to be present, to look with intention, and to imagine what comes next.
