This mural deals with a very important topic for me about the power of self-knowledge and accepting our ”dark side”, that is, the shadow, the concept of psychological theory that Carl Jung spoke of. The Shadow is a part of the unconscious mind that contains all the repressed feelings, impulses and desires that one is not comfortable with. When these feelings are suppressed, they can often manifest in different ways and people seek to release them at times. through rituals such as black magic.
The practice of black magic is based on the premise of using supernatural forces or rituals to harm enemies or to gain power. The power harnessed through these rituals is believed to have its origin in the depths of the Shadow, the dark part of the human psyche. That is why Jung believed that the practice of black magic is connected to the unconscious mind of a person.
When a person practices black magic, they are essentially trying to tap into the dark side of the psyche to gain power or manipulate the world around them. This goal is often considered unethical and can have dangerous consequences. In Jung’s view, this practice is a manifestation of repressed feelings and desires that the individual tries to keep hidden.
While black magic generally has a negative connotation, it can also be used in beneficial ways. For example, it can be used to help a person find peace with their Shadow, the dark side of their psyche as described by Carl Jung. By engaging with the Shadow, a person can learn more about himself and understand how he can better manage his feelings and repressed desires.
