A mural for The Missed Foundation
For families of long-term missing people, when the media attention, public interest and police resources have dwindled, faded or altogether stopped, it’s vital they’re shown that their loved one hasn’t been forgotten and people do still care.
Demonstrations of compassion made by complete strangers can be the most powerful, and even more so when their efforts generate public, real-world awareness.
Earlier this year, prolific Melbourne street artist Heesco asked the landlord of his studio if he could invite local artists to paint murals of missing Victorians on the exterior of his prime posi building.
Located at 251 Victoria Street in Abbotsford, an endless stream of tram and train commuters, drivers and pedestrians are remembering/realising missing loved ones are dearly missed, and their families and friends need continued support long after the media’s moved on and the police have exhausted their resources.
