“This large-scale mural pays tribute to the rich cultural significance of the area which has long served as a passageway for the Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung people. Traditionally, Wurundjeri traveled seasonally from the highlands to the Birrarung (Yarra River), with Bulleen marking part of this journey—a place of movement, connection, and transition.

Central to the design are Bunjil (the wedge-tailed eagle) and Waa (the crow), the two primary totems of the Wurundjeri, watching over the land and its people. Campsites along this ancient pathway are also represented, grounding the mural in stories of gathering and travel.

The greens and blues within the artwork reflect the physical and natural features of the Bulleen site: the flowing waterways, vibrant vegetation, and the surrounding landscape. Together, these elements evoke a sense of movement and harmony, capturing the spirit of transition—both historically and in its modern role as a hub of public transport.
