TO FIGHT AGAINST INSECURITY IN PUBLIC TRANSPORT

Four giant women on the walls of the Vaise station tunnel in Lyon: with this fresco the local transport Sytral intends to reassure female travellers and dissuade unwelcome visitors.

Women found the dark tunnel "crushing", "amplifying the feeling of insecurity".

This 60-metre-long naive-style fresco, created by artists Céleste Gangolphe and Vincent Leclère , is intended to be benevolent.

In 2015, Sytral set up "exploratory walks" on certain lines, where female passengers were invited to identify the elements that made them feel insecure.

A number of recommendations and achievements emerged. Thus, many of the women interviewed discovered the approximately 7,000 cameras hidden throughout the network . Enough to reassure them too, if they had known. Sytral therefore put stickers around the cameras to make them more visible.
