The Godess, La Diosa

The Goddess by PichiAvo is a monumental 300-square-metre mural that enriches the CEMFAC (The City in the Museum) collection in Los Llanos de Aridane, La Palma. Renowned for their signature blend of classical sculpture and vibrant graffiti, the duo once again bridges the worlds of Fine Arts and urban culture through what they describe as their distinctive "Urban Mythology."

The mural reinterprets a classical sculpture by Adolph Alexander Weinman, transforming it into a striking image of Athena (Minerva), the Greek goddess of wisdom and protector of cities. Rather than depicting her in marble, PichiAvo render the figure in bronze, echoing the volcanic earth that defines La Palma's landscape. With serene features, wings, and a martial helmet, Athena also evokes Saint Michael, the island's patron saint, creating a powerful dialogue between classical mythology and local heritage. Together, these symbols celebrate resilience, courage, and the remarkable ability of the people of La Palma to overcome adversity.
