Tucked away in one of Leeuwarden’s most beautiful alleys, you’ll find this work by Melda Wibawa. The painting - Melda’s first on the street - references various elements of the surrounding area. The painting is made during and for the Oude Markten Street Art Takeover organized by Writer's Block Murals.
Melda: “The mural is on a panel of a house in Ciprianussteeg. Cyprian was a saintly bishop and the protector of small pets, especially birds. The owner of the house had cats. She collected cages. The choice of pets for the painting is therefore based on the residents’ pets and the connection to the history of the alley’s name. I aim to convey peace and love through my paintings. The cat looks at the birds as if asking if they want to play. The mouse enjoys them. Peace in the house!”
