A paste-up bearing the word “Love” and a stylised portrait of Charles de Gaulle is attached to a wall beneath the “Place du Général Leclerc” street sign in Laon, France. The image depicts the French general and former president wearing his characteristic military cap. Its graphic style reduces his features to a few distinctive shapes.

The work is attributed to French street artist Mister P, also known as Mr. P, who is particularly known for his stylised portraits of prominent figures in public spaces. His recurring depiction of de Gaulle has become a signature motif. In an interview, the artist explained that he chose the general primarily because of his connection to Lille, where de Gaulle was born, rather than for political reasons.
