Konijn (Play the Rabbit, Free the Bird)

In 2016 schilderde Gijs Vanhee een konijn op de droogtoren van de oude brandweerkazerne in Halle.
Het is een parelwit konijn dat vogels gevangen houdt in een kooi, maar eentje dreigt te ontsnappen. De paarse en groene kleuren symboliseren het Hallerbos. Gijs Vanhee laat aan de bezoekers over hoe het verhaal verder gaat.

Het werk kwam tot stand in het kader van de street art expo 'Wild Brabant', georganiseerd door de provincie Vlaams-Brabant. De expo zet het werk van bekende en onbekende straatkunstenaars in de kijker op acht verrassende openluchtlocaties in de regio Vlaams-Brabant.

In 2016, Gijs Vanhee painted a rabbit on the drying tower of the old fire station in Halle. It is about a pearly white rabbit that keeps birds captive in a cage, but one threatens to escape. The colors purple and green color symbolize the Hallerbos. Gijs Vanhee leaves how the story continues to the visitors.

The work came about as part of the street art expo ‘Wild Brabant’, organised by the province of Flemish Brabant. The expo puts the spotlight on the work of known and unknown street artists at eight surprising open-air locations in the region of Flemish Brabant.
