The Willows Estate Remembrance Mural, created by local artist Nikita Spires, is a powerful tribute to those who have served and sacrificed for our freedom. Painted in the heart of the community, the mural captures the enduring themes of remembrance, family, and hope — honouring both the past and the strength of the present generation.

At its centre, a silhouette of a soldier returns home, reaching out to embrace his young daughter against a warm sunset sky. This poignant moment is framed by the vivid red of a single poppy seed, symbolising life, remembrance, and renewal. Every brushstroke reflects the gratitude of a community that remembers — not just on Remembrance Day, but every day.

The mural was funded by North East Lincolnshire Council (NELC), with additional community support to ensure the project’s completion to the highest standard. Its protective anti-graffiti coating ensures that this heartfelt artwork will remain a lasting legacy for years to come.
