The Wonderful World of Weelsby Woods

The 'Wonderful World of Weelsby Woods', is a joyful, vibrant celebration of the history of the woods and the nature found within. One of the iconic stone lions can be seen travelling through the foliage ridden by a child followed by Wojtek the bear, cycling behind with a child in his basket, all on their way to a great adventure.

Wojtek was the beloved mascot of the Polish Army regiment based in Weelsby Woods after the Second World War. His commemorative statue can be seen in the woods next to an area of carved wooden animals, all of which can be found somewhere in the painting. The huge size of the mural and the vibrant colours used to create a whimsical world beneath the trees to get lost within. Painted on the back of the cafe at the woods, it is the centre of a thriving family orientated park with many children passing everyday. The mural will encourage children to explore, find the animals and then look for them as they make their way around the park, whilst learning about the history of their town along the way.
