Isabella Elder

The mural of the renowned Victorian philanthropist, commissioned by Elderpark Housing Association, has been created on the end of a historic tenement on Langlands Road by well-known artist Rogueoner.

Isabella was the much-admired wife of renowned shipping magnate John Elder, and was often referred to as the First Lady by locals as she used her wealth to leave a lasting legacy to Glasgow's Govan, the mural features a profile of Mrs Elder with the backdrop of the library, which has recently been refurbished.

Vibrant red roses feature prominently in the image, reflecting a rose garden, which is a much-loved feature of Elder Park.
