De inspiratie voor dit werk van Alegria del Prado aan AZ Sint-Lucas kwam van een dertigtal ziekenhuismedewerkers, patiënten, buurtbewoners en geëngageerde Gentenaars, die brainstormden over een duurzame zorgzame samenleving in eigen buurt, stad, regio, land en de hele Europese Unie.

De muurschildering beeldt een hart als drijvende kracht voor het leven uit en tegelijk ook als een warm nest, symbool voor eenheid, zorg en gelijkheid. Dit alles in een geheel van takken en bladeren, die voor duurzaamheid en evenwicht met de natuur staan. Het werk wordt omgeven door een aureool van de twaalf sterren van de vlag van de Europese Unie, die al deze waarden nastreeft en tracht te behoeden.

Het werk is gemaakt in het kader van het #EuropeStreetArt-project, een reeks muurschilderingen die reflecteren op Europese missies en visies. Het project was een samenwerking tussen de stad Gent, Treepack, Beweging.net en de Europese Commissie. Verschillende werken uit het #EuropeStreetArt-project zijn in België onthuld. The inspiration for this work by Alegria del Prado at AZ Sint-Lucas came from around thirty hospital staff, patients, local residents and committed citizens of Ghent, who brainstormed ideas for a sustainable, caring society in their own neighbourhood, city, region, country and the entire European Union.

The mural depicts a heart as the driving force of life and, at the same time, as a warm nest, symbolising unity, care and equality. All this is set against a backdrop of branches and leaves, representing sustainability and balance with nature. The work is surrounded by a halo of the twelve stars of the European Union flag, which pursues and seeks to protect all these values.

The work was created as part of the #EuropeStreetArt project, a series of murals reflecting on European missions and visions. The project was a collaboration between the city of Ghent, Treepack, Beweging.net and the European Commission. Several works from the #EuropeStreetArt project have been unveiled in Belgium.
