In 2026 bestaat het Gentse Industriemuseum 50 jaar. Een van de highlights van dit feest is de muurschildering van Fred Battle aan het museum.

Hij werd meteen geïnspireerd door de geschiedenis van het museum en het gebouw, een oude textielfabriek. Drie elementen uit zijn werk komen hier samen in een tweeluik: de machines en hoe ze ontworpen zijn, abstracte patronen zoals je ook kan vinden op textiel, de mens en de plaats die deze inneemt in deze industriële wereld. Samen vormen ze een hommage aan de werkers en hun ambacht in de textielsector.

In 2026, the Ghent Industrial Museum will mark its 50th anniversary. One of the highlights of the celebrations is a mural by Fred Battle on the museum building.

He drew immediate inspiration from the history of the museum and the building itself—a former textile factory. Three elements of his work come together here in a diptych: the machines and their design; abstract patterns reminiscent of textile designs; and the human figure and the place people occupy within this industrial world. Together, they form a tribute to the workers and their craftsmanship in the textile industry.
