Graffiti Tunnel Wickingstraße (left side)

The Wickingstraße street art project transformed a dark, 174-meter railway underpass in Gelsenkirchen into a vibrant open-air gallery. It was created to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the city. The project was completed in late 2025. It was organized by the city's culture and marketing departments alongside the local art scene.

The mural tells the story of Gelsenkirchen from past to present:

    • the city's coal mining heritage.

    • traditional "Büdchen" kiosks, and Schalke 04 football culture.
