The Double-Arch Bridge (German: Doppelbogenbrücke) in Gelsenkirchen's Nordsternpark is one of the most famous pedestrian and bicycle bridges in the Ruhr area. This bright red structure spans the Rhine-Herne Canal and is celebrated as a masterpiece of modern engineering. Its most unique feature is the angle. While the two parallel steel arches cross the canal at a straight 90-degree angle, the actual walkway runs diagonally across them at a 45-degree angle. This makes the bridge look different from every viewpoint.
