Chester's Wall

Following the tragic suicide of Chester Bennington in July 2017, graffiti artist PALAS spontaneously sprayed a portrait of the singer at Hall of Fame Zollstraße in Essen. The location quickly transformed into a central memorial site for grieving fans from all over Germany. Because the original wall on Zollstraße was overpainted and the area was being redeveloped, fans founded the non-profit association LP "The Wall" Germany e.V.. With official permission from the city of Essen, the memorial was relocated to Kaiser-Wilhelm-Park (Essen-Altenessen). Inside a historic, circular pavilion, David Landgraf created a brand new Memorial Wall which functions as both a musical tribute and a community hub for depression awareness. Weather and the passage of time took their toll on the pavilion. Plaster and paint peeled away, and a few untalented individuals armed with spray cans ensured that "Chester's Wall" disappeared, turning the pavilion into a blighted, unwelcoming spot.
The pavilion in Kaiser Wilhelm Park has now finally after a long time been renovated using donations, and of course, the site again is adorned with a new, iconic portrait of Chester Bennington, spray-painted by David Landgraf.
