By Dimitri Potapov:
"Sometimes, we sabotage our own dreams, clutching something precious in our hands, all the while bearing the weight of its unintended pain. It’s a choice, to either release that which no longer serves us or to muster the strength to endure.
Such is life—a natural cycle of gaining and losing, yearning for the unattainable while pining for what we once possessed. These emotions weigh equally upon our hearts, and the scars etched upon our souls persist, even if we attempt to wear them down. For these marks are not easily forgotten, eternally etched in the tapestry of our existence, you can hide but you wont forget , thats what human being means.
The painting is based on the mythology of the Greeks, who were among the first colonizers of the Black Sea coast and brought with them legends about dryads, nymphs associated with forests and the surrounding nature. This choice of character has become an integral part of how I express my love for the natural beauty of the world around us. Mythologies can provide inspiration and deep symbolism for artistic and spiritual expression, thus helping to preserve the connection with cultural traditions and values."
Mural painted during PeWall Festival, project Biophilia in 2023. The work opens a window to a mystical world of old stories that contributed to the local identity.
