A Eira das Meigas

Nana (Diana Rodeiro) and Nada (Iria Fafián), members of 7H Cooperativa Cultural, are the authors of the mural A Eira das Meigas, inspired by the local legend of Mount Neme. This, with an altitude of 385 meters and located on the coast in the limits between Carballo and Malpica de Bergantiños, in addition to its past as a wolfram mine, is known for its mythical past. Near the summit, there was a cromlech, of which now there is nothing left except for a circle on the ground, where the legends say the grass does not grow anymore. It is here where the oral tradition places the covens that made the meigas (witches) and the devil on the night of San Juan, sitting on huge stone chairs, to discuss about the things they were going to make to the humans.
In this work, Nana and Nada create their particular coven by mixing the personal style of each one, very identifiable, narrating a scene of magical and mystical character inspired by this historic place.
This artwork is part of Derrubando Muros con pintura 2018.
