Je ne suis pas un nuisible

Fox by Brussels-based artist Rose de la Haye. She has already painted some 150 specimens of her signature fox, mostly on electricity boxes.

For De la Haye, the fox, an animal you can effectively encounter on the streets of Brussels, is an ideal representative of the wild nature that is under pressure in big cities. She calls the fox ‘a true Brussels native, who has made the city his habitat’.

The slogan “Je ne suis pas un nuisible” or “I am not harmful” refers to the fact that foxes are often seen as harmful, and are still allowed to be hunted in the countryside. In the Brussels Capital Region, there has been a general ban on hunting since 1991.
