“This ‘Mezzmerizing Parade’ refers to the military parades of yesteryear and is a nod to the colourful carnival parades of today. As befits a good parade, it is supported by a bombastic brass band.

The artist about t(his) work: “At the end of August 2024, I was allowed to put up a mural on behalf of BlindWallsGallery at Poppodium Mezz in Breda. The “Mezzmerizing parade” is an image that harks back to the military past of the former officers' mess.
Officers and soldiers in colourful uniforms and suits, decorated with feathers, sashes and shiny medals. Back then, a sign of masculinity and strength. Now, today, these ornate decorations and accessories may be at odds with the stereotypical “tough guy”, a fine contrast.
The carnivalesque Brabant also gives us the opportunity to make fun of this military display. The uniforms become costumes and the display of power is ridiculed, creating a message of protest”.

“Deze ‘Mezzmerizing Parade’ verwijst naar de militaire parades van vroeger en is een knipoog naar de kleurrijke carnavalsoptochten van nu. Zoals het een goede parade behoeft wordt deze ondersteund door een bombastische fanfare.

De artiest over zijn werk: “Eind augustus 2024 mocht ik een mural zetten namens BlindWallsGallery bij Poppodium Mezz in Breda. De 'Mezzmerizing parade' is een beeld dat teruggrijpt op het militaire verleden van de voormalige officiersmess. 
Officieren en militairen in kleurrijke uniforms en pakken, gedecoreerd met veren, sjerpen en glimmende medailles. Toentertijd een teken van mannelijkheid en kracht. Nu, vandaag de dag, staan deze sierlijke decoraties en accessoires misschien haaks op de stereotype 'stoere man', een fijn contrast.
Het carnavaleske Brabant geeft ons ook de mogelijkheid de draak te steken met dit militaire vertoon. De uniformen worden kostuums en het machtsvertoon wordt geridiculiseerd en zo ontstaat er een boodschap van protest".
