A Artesã (The Artisan)

The intention of this image is to capture the essence of the traditional olaria of Barcelos, a form of art that lasts through generations. At the center of the image, a skilled woman dips her hands into a piece of clay, working with dexterity and passion. Her hands, large, caleged by time and constant practice, convey the deep connection with tradition. The female figure is chosen to highlight the importantness of women in this trade, fundamental to the preservation of it.

In The BOX is project organised by Casa da Juventude. The aim is to “involve young people in the creation of new projects that enhance their appreciation and capabilities”.
