Apolo

Aryz's latest mural, titled Apolo, is a striking addition to Barcelona's urban art scene. Located on the façade of the iconic Sala Apolo, one of the city's most renowned music venues, the mural portrays the Greek god Apollo, a solar deity associated with the arts, archery, and healing. This monumental piece, part of the Art Meets Apollo (AMA) project, celebrates the venue’s creative and cultural significance.

The Catalan urban artist began work on the mural earlier this week and is expected to complete it shortly. Apollo is depicted with his arms crossed, exuding confidence and amusement as he gazes at passers-by. Aryz’s signature vivid color palette and textured brushstrokes bring a contemporary energy to the mythological theme, with the figure crowned in laurel as a nod to Apollo’s classical associations with artistic excellence. FUN FACT: the artist extended the canvas to fit his design!

This Apolo de la Apolo, as the venue affectionately calls it, is designed to endure for at least a year. The nightclub expressed their excitement on social media, humorously stating, “Aryz, president!” The piece has already exceeded all expectations, embodying the spirit of the AMA project, which invites non-musical artists to transform the venue into a canvas for unique creations. Past contributors to the project include Iván Forcadell, Joaquín Boymer, Miliça Lukic, and Miroslav Perkovic.

With Apolo, Aryz has elevated the venue’s cultural legacy, blending mythological symbolism with a bold, contemporary aesthetic. This monumental guardian now stands proudly at the gateway to Sala Apolo, reinforcing its role as a vibrant hub for artistic expression in Barcelona's Poble-sec neighborhood.

Can you believe this is the first mural of Aryz in the city where he lives and works?
