The pedestrian underpass at Ludwigshafen Central Station brings together a wide range of imagery created by international graffiti and street-art artists. The work documented here is by Sovry de Sovrino and is located on the wall leading towards platforms 3b - 4b. At its centre is a realistically rendered woman’s face, surrounded by large flowers and a colourful hummingbird.

Sovry de Sovrino is a Spanish artist who describes his style as “expressive realism.” Portraits and realistic figures are among the recurring elements of his work. In an interview with Meeting of Styles, he also explains that music is an important source of inspiration when developing his paintings.

The mural was created in 2020 as part of the extensive artistic redesign of the pedestrian underpass at Ludwigshafen Central Station. Organised under the name “Meeting of Styles,” the project was coordinated by the Wiesbaden-based artists’ collective Buntic Media and involved numerous international artists. Deutsche Bahn and the Zweckverband Schienenpersonennahverkehr Rheinland-Pfalz Süd were involved in upgrading the station environment.
