San Juan Bautista

Saint John the Baptist is portrayed with a relaxed, youthful style, pointing to the sky with his finger and accompanied by the symbols traditionally associated with him: the lamb at his feet, the reed cross, the camel skin he wears as clothing, the red cloak referring to his martyrdom, and the scroll bearing the words “Ecce Agnus Dei": “Behold the Lamb of God.”

This work by Nano Lázaro decorates the entrance to the Church of San Juan de la Vera Cruz, which is consecrated to the same saint.
