<p>for Tirana Mural Fest 2019</p><p><a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.instagram.com/muralfesttirana/">www.instagram.com/muralfesttirana</a></p><p><a target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener" href="http://www.fatcap.com/artist/stinkfish.html">Stinkfish</a> is a Colombian street artist who recreates portraits from photographs as murals. These portraits of strangers are adorned with colourful psychedelic elements.</p><p>Stinkfish was born in Mexico; however, he spent his childhood in Colombia once his parents migrated there. At the age of 16 or 17, Stinkfish began to write the name Stink anywhere imagined. These places included; school notebooks, desks, bathrooms, and other locations. A couple years after these experiences, he began to add fish at the end of the name. There was no specific reason on why he chose, besides the fact that he was young, discontent, and listened to punk music.</p><p>Stinkfish’s work is created, primarily, by portraying a variety of random faces artistically. He explains that he loves to carry a camera with him. This camera is then used to take pictures of random people, who are not always aware he is taking a picture, and from these photographs, he turns the images into stencils. He chooses intriguing photographs found during travel of strangers. Once these pictures are taken, he then decides on which selected ones will be used for wall art.</p>

<div>The mural is based on the photo of a young Pioneer by Alexander Rodchenko, the mural was created in 2014 for the Moscow street art festival. The nearest metro stations are "Kurslaya" or "Krasniye corona"</div>

<div>This was a quick piece made last September by StinkFish and Empty Boy. StinkFish is a member of the APC crew. The pic in which the piece is based was taken in China, I believe, but will double check with him.&nbsp;</div>

Piece 3 Ciclón Callejero

<div>This piece was based on a picture taken by StinkFish in Old Providence, an island on the Colombian Caribbean. The Colombian artist has a particular MO he’s been applying on his work consistently: he takes pictures of people without their knowledge and then he uses those pictures as a frame for a stencil he then paints on a different place. He collaborates frequently for his pieces painted on Colombia with Empty Boy, another stencil specialist.&nbsp;<br>The Ciclón Callejero took place during the second half of the month of September. The first week was used to paint the walls and then the second week was used to give the workshops and have the screening sessions. The urban experiment was named after El Ciclón Bananero, which is how the local football team –Unión Magdalena– is known around here, referring to the strong windy season affecting the city at the end of the year (aka La Brisa Loca) and to the fact that this territory used to be banana country (nowadays most plantations have been turned to palm).<br>This wall is situated diagonal to JáfanaJafana’s cultural center, and belongs to the living quarters of a family that has been involved with many of Jáfana’s activities. In fact, in a previous stay, StinkFish gave a stencil workshop attended by their infants. They were all pretty excited to have this beautiful piece painted on the wall and it now looks as the girl from Old Providence is a guardian angel for their household.&nbsp;</div>

Pieza 2 Ciclón Callejero

<div>One of the last interventions of the Ciclón Callejero was on an abandoned school bus at the Inem public school in Mamatoco.&nbsp;<br>Stinkfish and Empty Boy used an old frame for this one, which is something they do regularly. Stink had already painted a wall in the school during his last visit (2017) and this time around we prepared both a free screening workshop and a screening session for the students.</div>

<div>This was the first mural painted by StinKFish and EmptyBoy for the Ciclón Callejero experiment, where the two Colombian artists, along with Tito from Hazlo Tu Mismo, painted murals, did workshops and screening sessions. The three artists stayed in Casa del Níspero, the guesthouse managed by JáfanaJafana, the cultural center that helped put together this effort.<br>The piece is based on a picture taken by StinkFish in Guapi, in the Colombian Pacific coast, in 2018, and is the tallest mural in the city to this date (June 2019).&nbsp;</div>
