Smoka, a muralist and graphic designer based in France, embodies an artistic passion that has inhabited him since a young age. It was in the 90s that he plunged into the fascinating world of graffiti. Attracted by the profusion of colors and the impressive dimensions of the works, he created his first frescoes in 1998. Self-taught by nature and with a perpetual quest for improvement, Smoka began by exploring various styles of demanding lettering. Subsequently, he deepened his knowledge by studying graphic design in Quimper, thus merging his skills with his passion for painting. In 2006, Smoka joined the 100 Pression artists’ collective in Nantes, opening the door to a multitude of projects and the exploration of new artistic media such as giant facades, canvases and screen prints. Whether working in a collective or solo, Smoka has actively participated for more than a decade in Urban Art projects across Europe. At the same time, his painting studio became his laboratory for graphic experiments. Smoka’s unique style as a muralist skillfully blends portraits, typography, patterns and textures, creating dynamic and unique compositions. Patterns and colors become essential elements of his work, giving a singular rhythm to his creations, oscillating between abstraction and figuration. His frescoes question our beliefs, confront our human certainties with the reality of the world and Nature.
