"We contacted Shawn with an idea which expanded into the dedication to Sir Tom. The connection goes back to our other director's childhood. He was involved in a severe accident as a child and ended up in ICU. Sir Tom visited him in hospital and this has stayed with him for obvious reasons.&nbsp;Sir Tom is a figure in Preston who made a massive impact not only in his field of chosen sport but also for the good of the town's community. &nbsp;To honour him in our building is a no-brainer. I want to think that the old talent on our wall has brought together New talent, and it's an opportunity for the People of Preston to be proud of them all." - Kate Urban Kitchens

Reasm_one has been a graffiti/street artist for 15 years is well known in the Preston area, having created, famous pieces including ‘Mother’ at Hogarth’s, ‘Betsy Leigh’ and ‘Pauline in the Yellow Dress’. He focuses on large-scale murals that celebrate Preston’s history and culture.“I was excited when Loom Loft approached me, due to the previous works they had seen. When I heard the rough brief, I knew I wanted to incorporate the Docklands into the mural and pay homage to its rich history. I am unaware of any retail stores in the UK that have large-scale murals indoors, making it a unique space. It's been a pleasure to work with Loom Loft, giving me a lot of creative freedom and bringing the best out of a space where you wouldn’t normally expect a mural. I can't wait for the people of Preston to see it, it'll be the perfect backdrop to showcase what Loom Loft does.

‘Mother’ was Reasms first large scale public art in his hometown. Mother is a take on the cities crest, a strong female figure that watches over the city and her lambs. It has served as a catalyst for the scene to grow within Preston. It became the talk of the city when it was realised that the mural was painted on a GradeII listed building, after months of deliberation the council granted permission for the mural to stay. Thanks to the massively positive response from the people of Preston.

Commissioned by Slingers Ironmongers, the painting celebrates their history in our city. Including other Landmarks around the city.

Keeping up with celebrating our rich history in Preston."I wanted to celebrate our textile industry, I have my own story for this piece and what it means but I like the public to create their own stories. Mine shows the light and dark side of the industry.I'm sure many of you have parents and grandparents who worked in the mills, it's been 50 years since they shut. In another 50 we won't have anyone around to tell of their experience of working in them so keeping the history alive is important!"
