The Muelle de Montera (Montera Wharf) is much more than just an old piece of graffiti. It's one of the most important physical testimonies to the birth of a distinctly Madrid graffiti scene in the 1980s, and probably Juan Carlos Argüello's most emblematic surviving signature. 🎨 Key Facts Location: Side facade of a building on Montera Street, in the heart of Madrid, between Gran Vía and Puerta del Sol. Date: Muelle's own documentation places its creation on the night of November 14, 1987. The municipal archives, more cautiously, date it between 1985 and 1993. Technique: Spray paint on the wall. Appearance: The word "Muelle" (Wharf) appears, accompanied by his characteristic spiral or pier ending in an arrow. Color: Montera's signature is preserved in red and pink. The address listed in the municipal archives is 30 Montera Street. However, the Muelle Art project documentation itself identifies the façade as 32 Montera Street.
