<p>The title reminds Jolien aka Kitsune to the advise her mother gave: "you should just start to paint". And here's the result.<br>The people living here thought about getting some street art for a long time, it was with some help they met the local artist Kitsune and after a though 5 days of work this is the result you can admire.<br><br>That a local cop made sure that the project got delayed for some days and made it a lot more stressy ... well, we try to forget that.<br><br>Project funded by locals with crowdfunding.</p>

<p>Kitsune has been travelling all over the world for street art projects and festivals, so it's great to have a new work by her in Ghent. For this mural, she was requested to paint a little robin bird. To add to that, comes a portrait of the artist Rose George that she met during her travels.</p>

<div>Created in the coldest and wettest weeks of the winter '20-'21, with the students of this campus in the artist's mind. Only visible when the gates of this campus are open.<br>&lt;br/&gt;<br>Kitsune explains: "In old English folklore this story is about the birds wanting to decide who would become their king. They would all fly up together, the one that could fly the highest would win. Right at the moment the eagle wanted to give up, the smallest of birds who was hiding in his feathers flew out. Becoming king of birds. It teaches us that even when the challenge ahead seems impossible, there is always a way to solve your problem. &lt;br/&gt;<br>I’ve adapted the birds to be a bit more Flemish and included birds that are common on campus such as the Jay and Magpie."&lt;br/&gt;<br>A project for Odisee Technologie Campus.</div>

This is what Kitsune had to say about is: 'The original from 2019 has always been close to my heart and will disappear this summer. I painted it from a similar mindspace as last time but the meaning has shifted significantly these past years, so it deserved a new edition.'</div>

<div>&nbsp;Kitsune Jolene is from Ghent, Belgium and is known for her colourful and emotive works and dreamy depictions, drawing inspiration from personal life stories or mythology and folklore.<br><br></div><div>Speaking on the latest design at Sullivan’s Quay, she said: “The mural I’ve painted is a twist on the mythology around Celtic mother goddess Danu, combined with the river Lee running through Cork alongside my piece on Sullivans Quay which reflects the Milky Way on clear nights."<br><br></div><div>“I like to think that even today, no matter who you meet or cross paths with on the streets, they could be gods in disguise.”&nbsp;<br><br></div>

North West Walls 2023 - Untitled

<p>Created for North West Walls 2024, <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://streetartcities.com/tags/festival/North%20West%20Walls">check the full history here</a></p><p>North West Walls is a <strong>stacked shipping containers installations</strong> at Rock Werchter, transformed each year into a new open‑air street‑art gallery. Since 2014, it has served as a <strong>permanent structure with ever‑changing artwork</strong>, proving that large‑scale visual art can thrive at a music festival. </p><p>Curated annually by Belgian artist <strong>Arne Quinze</strong>, the project invites six international street artists to repaint the containers, giving them a vast outdoor canvas exposed to weather, music, and thousands of visitors. The installation acts as a landmark between festivals, then is reborn each summer with new stories and styles. Over a decade, it has showcased artists from around the world, each leaving a mark on the project’s evolving identity. As it celebrates its 10th anniversary in 2025, North West Walls continues its mission: bringing art into unexpected spaces and sparking emotion in everyone who encounters it.</p>

<div>Kitsune Jolene (Jolien De Waele, 1992) is a street artist, based in Ghent, Belgium. You can find her artworks from Belgium all the way to Portugal and Dubai. Usually painting portraits of women, animals, fauna and flora sometimes infused with subtle nods to various cultures and myths.<br>The story behind her name is basically the following:&nbsp;&nbsp;After a long search for an alias - because her real name is unpronounceable for most - she decided to google deep dive into the origins of her favourite Pokémon 'Ninetales', who turns out to be based on the Japanese myth of Kitsune. They are spirit foxes who can turn thousands of years old, but after the first 100 they can shape shift into -typically- young women. They're known to be mischievous, playful, not necessarily good nor bad.&nbsp;<br><br>About this wall:&nbsp;<br>Based on a Japanese myth which tells of an old man who lives on the moon. He comes out at night to search earth for kindred spirits who have something to learn from each other, who will fall in love, or might even change the world together. He ties them together with a red string so they will eventually find their way to each other.&nbsp;<br><br>Being a romantic, but refusing to paint herself, the artist wanted to refer to her personal love, which is why she painted a red Robin.&nbsp;<br><br>Model: @ceciliagorgon&nbsp;</div>

<p>‘Time is relentless’ for Urban Sunrise in Alcamo.&nbsp;</p><p>We humans are all bound by time as we move through our lives, whoever we are, time is always escaping us. Between children growing up and parents breathing their final breath, being alive is precious. The future isn’t given, this mural serves as a reminder that time isn’t just passing by for ourselves but also for humans as a collective, we have to take care of each other and our planet.</p>

<p>De containers van Pukkelpop worden jaarlijks beschilderd door een street art artiest. Tijdens de voorbije edities viel deze eer onder andere Lindert Steegen, David Bruce en Danny Rumbl te beurt.</p><p>Tijdens de editie van 2025 was het de beurt aan Krimsone, die even voordien ook al een mural maakte aan de 'Talent wall' naast Visit Hasselt. In previous editions, this task fell to Lindert Steegen, David Bruce and Danny Rumbl, among others.</p><p>During the 2025 edition, it was Krimsone's turn. <p>Nightingale was painted as a commission for local housing association Woonwenz with a given theme of Componists. Who better to draw inspiration from than nightingales singing for love in the summer nights of June. </p>

Zij groeide op in de jeugdzorg, in de film gaat ze op zoek naar haar eigen geschiedenis.</p><p>Een project van 'Hier gebeurt nooit iets - Meulestede'</p><hr><p>This project highlights remarkable people and stories from the neighborhood.  <br>This mural is inspired by 'Chelsea Blues', a documentary about local resident Chelsea. She grew up in the youth care system; in the film, she sets out to uncover her own history.</p>

<p>"Kitsune" is a Belgian muralist known for her dreamy, emotive, and vibrant visual storytelling murals. </p><p>This stunning mural titled "Guardians of the Wild" features the artist's muse "Hannah" and Australia's endangered Black Cockatoos and was completed on the facade of the Bayside Shopping Centre in the bayside suburb of Frankston.</p><p>Finally, this artwork was the artist's contribution to the annual "Frankston Street Art Festival", which was formerly known previoulsy as the "the Big Picture Festival, in March 2026.</p>

Zo'n 50 graffitikunstenaars op 17 &amp; 18 april 2021 en nog eens 50 graffitikunstenaars werkten op 24 &amp; 25 april mee aan het Tunnel Vision project. Een project om de muren om te toveren tot ware kunstwerken.</p><p>---------------------------------------------------------</p><p>The bicycle tunnels under the Zuiderring in Mol received a striking makeover in April 2021. About 50 graffiti artists on 17 &amp; 18 April 2021 and another 50 graffiti artists worked on the Tunnel Vision project on 24 &amp; 25 April. A project to transform the walls into real works of art.</p>

<div>Ruim 15 graffiti artiesten hebben afgelopen weekend hun talenten los mogen laten op de fietsenstallings muur aan de centrumzijde van station Ede-Wageningen.</div><div>&nbsp;</div><div>Het verzoek kwam van omwonenden die de omgeving rondom de steeg een positievere uitstraling wilden geven. Samen met de gemeente Ede is gekeken naar opties om dit te realiseren, behalve het aanpassen van de verlichting was het aanbrengen van kleur op de wand een goede optie.</div><div>&nbsp;</div><div>Astrant, het culturele jongerenplatform van Ede werkt sinds 2016 al aan een street-art route door Ede heen en heeft inmiddels meer dan 30 locaties binnen Ede weten te transformeren. Een heus ‘straatmusuem’ die altijd te bezoeken is kun je inmiddels vinden in alle wijken van Ede.</div><div>&nbsp;</div><div>Dit weekend waren er diverse collectieven uit Nederland uitgenodigt om te komen schilderen. Onder andere het street-art team van Friesland en Den Haag kwam op de uitnodiging af. Maar ook artiesten uit Ghent (Belgie), Groningen en Rotterdam waren van de partij.</div>

Lokale kunstenaars en gasten van over de hele wereld kunnen gedurende 4 tot 6 weken hun talent op deze muur laten zien.</p><p>Een sterk realistisch werk op deze plek door Kitsune Jolene, deze 15e mural werd gemaakt in best koude omstandigheden ... vandaar het verlangen naar de lente.</p><hr><p>Inspired by Le M.U.R. from Paris, the non-profit organization Wallin' aims to promote urban art in the city center. Local artists and guests from other places can show their talent for 4 to 6 weeks on this wall.&nbsp;</p><p>A strongly realistic work at this location by Kitsune Jolene, this 15th mural was created in quite cold conditions ... hence the longing for spring.</p>
