<div>In 2019 a young student disappeared and found dead on her way to Antwerp. The city rolled out a plan to improve safety, quality of life and social control and asked Street Art Antwerp to help out. 4 artists painted the 4 pillars of the highway inspired by nature, the beautiful swan emerging from the water is by Tuzq, the curious fox is by Duits, the colorful hummingbird by Smok and the proud peacock by Gun-T. With support of Stad Antwerpen &amp; Mooimakers</div>

Story of the Cité Vuylstekes, Kortrijk

From the Durme Bridge along the N41 (regional road in Hamme), passers-by can now enjoy a special graffiti artwork on the concrete facade of the company Vagaetrans, a company specialized in earthworks and demolition works. David Duits finished his largest mural of his career (600m²) He was now commissioned by the company Vagaetrans to spray a scene on the hangar wall, in order to give their perosnel a better view from the offices. “We asked David to create a decor that could bring space, depth and color to our company site,” explains Yvonne Van Gaeveren. “Together we opted for a mountain landscape with many animals. David offered a beautiful design, with a girl in the center who seems to paint the landscape and the colorful animals.

De emmer in zijn hand verwijs naar een 'heldendaad'. Aan de linkerkant van de muurschildering zie je een kind op een skateboard, druk bezig met het planten van bomen. Aan de rechterkant lijkt een ander kind een muur van een gebouw te slopen. Beide scènes symboliseren de kracht van verandering en de creativiteit van de jongere generatie. Elke dag worden we begroet door de bewoners van deze nieuwe, groene omgeving, die letterlijk en figuurlijk het hart van de stad tot leven brengt. Met deze muurschildering wilde ik een groene oase creëren in het centrum van Torhout. Waar vroeger alleen beton was, is nu een plek ontstaan waar mensen elkaar kunnen ontmoeten, kunnen genieten van kunst en natuur en zich verbonden voelen met hun buurt. Dit project werd gerealiseerd in samenwerking met de stad Torhout en het Cultureel Centrum De Brouckaere.---------------------------------------------------------On the left side of the mural, you see a child on a skateboard, busy planting trees. On the right, another child appears to be demolishing a building wall. Both scenes symbolize the power of change and the creativity of the younger generation. Every day, we are greeted by the residents of this new, green environment, which literally and figuratively brings the heart of the city to life. With this mural, I wanted to create a green oasis in the center of Torhout. Where once there was only concrete, a place has now emerged where people can meet, enjoy art and nature, and feel connected to their neighborhood. This project was realized in collaboration with the City of Torhout and the De Brouckaere Cultural Center.
